This blog post is just to highlight some of the things I did this summer! I was lucky enough to be able to spend a second summer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory doing an internship. I spent last summer starting a project looking at the surface of Saturn's moon Enceladus, and this summer I went a little deeper into some of the findings from last summer and found some new things! My summer has also been focused on working on completing my thesis, which I hope to submit at the end of this year.
Some of the initial highlights of the summer were moving to California for a few months, and spending a couple weeks in Chicago with some family on my way there, and on the way back. I even got to have some Italian beef (see below)!
While I was at JPL I did some touring around the place and even took some pictures with the model rover and the contraption they drive around to test mobility. And I caught some deer walking around the lab!
I also got the chance to go up to Mount Wilson Observatory and look through the telescope.
I also visited the Getty Villa museum, which showcases a lot of Greek and Roman sculptures and artifacts.
When I left LA, I decided to take a train back rather than a plane! I spent about 45 hours on the train in coach, sleeping in my cool reclining window seat. I went through Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and finally Illinois. Here are some pictures!
To actually hear about my research at JPL, see my talk at GSA this year, or for those in person, listen to my chat.
See you next time!
